Strajica Municipality
Strazhitsa Municipality is located in the north-eastern part of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality. It occupies some elevations of the Pre-Balkan and the hilly area of the Danube Plain. An administrative center of the municipality is the town of Strazhitsa, set within 40km north-east of Veliko Tarnovo, 260 north-east of the capital Sofia, 210km west of the seaside city Varna, and 100km south of Rousse. The pleasant climate /moderate-continental/ and the diverse nature on that territory attract many people ever since the Antiquity. On many places across Strazhitsa territory one will find remains of Pre-historic, Thracian, Roman and Byzantine settlements. The cultural traditions of the region are preserved and developed by 40 community reading centers. Points of interest are the churches in Strazhitsa, and in the villages of Kesarevo and Assenovo. The one in Strazhitsa is named “The Assumption” Church that is why the town’s holiday is on the 15th of August - The Assumption day. The mentioned above Exhibition Hall is also worth visiting.
