Pleven District
General characteristic of the region The district with the administrative center of Pleven is located in the central part of Northern Bulgaria, to the North it borders with the Danube River, to the West – a district with administrative center of Vratsa, to the East – district of Veliko Tarnovo, to the South – district of Lovech. The district of Pleven is the center of eleven municipalities: Belene, Gulyantsi, Dolna Mitropolia, Dolni Dabnik, Iskar, Levski, Knezha, Nikopol, Pleven, Pordim and Cherven Bryag. The district of Pleven has a territory of 4 653.3 sq. km, which represents 4.2% from the territory of the country. According to the percentage of the areas with economy usage, which is 5.4%, the district of Pleven is the fourth one in the country after Dobrich, Burgas and Plovdiv. The climate in the district of Pleven is moderate-continental. The average temperatures in January are -2 to -3C, the average temperatures in July +23C.
