Miikovci Village
Miykovtsi is village in North Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Elena - 13 km away from the town of Elena. The village is 6 km away from the village of Buynovtsi. It is situated on a high hill near river Miykovska on the foot of Chumerna peak. The village has population of 54 people. The area and the weather conditions make it attractive place for rural tourism.
The village is made of two smaller villages and 4 neighborhoods.
For the lovers of winter sports there is about 250m long ski track equipped with a tow-lift. In the region of Chumerna hut, there are also a ski and snowboard tracks with length of 650m, “blue” category. The tracks also have a ski wardrobe, lift and piste preparation equipment. Òhe region offers perfect conditions for ski running, ski hikes, ski orientation, etc.
In the vicinity of Miykovtsi you can find several tourist paths that lead to numerous chalets. Horse tourism, hunting tourism and ethnographic tourism are also developing.
History
Accoring to the legend the village is named after the founder of the village - Miyko. During the Liberation war the village was burnt and robbed while the people were hiding in the woods.
In 1868 a school was found in the village. In 1895 the church "Archangel Michael""was built.
