Balvan Village
The village of Balvan is located 15 km west from Veliko Tarnovo, on the main road Sofia - Varna.
Up until the liberation it has been a village with entirely Turkish population, while the Bulgarian hamlet inhabited a place, called “The Balvan hamlet” which is nowadays the village of Vetrentsi.
”The Monument of the Balvanska battle”is constructed in the village to remind the generations of the battle between communists and government forces during the partisan fights in 1941-1944.
The village has a primary school, kindergarten and an orphanage, as well as that a home for elderly “St. Ivan Rilski” was constructed.
The population is about 600.The village is well developed, it is electrified and water supplied, all mobile operators have network coverage. Streets are paved and are regularly cleaned. There is a shop and a restaurant.
On the territory of the village is based also the Mill-Balvan.
Only 5 km away is village of Emen with the beautiful Emen waterfall.
