History
It is believed that the village dates from the times of the Romans and Thracians. There was an old road connecting Danube and Aegean Sea. According to prof. Dimitar Vasilev this road came from Nove near Svishtov, passed through Nikopolis ad Istrum, Arbanasi, Harvalovtsi, Badevtsi, Drenta, Gurkovo, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and led to the thracian town Abdera. During the Ottoman yoke the road was used to transfer the treasury to Istanbul.
There are six old thracian burial mounds.
