Pavel Village



Pavel (Bulgarian: Павел) is a village in Polski Trambesh Municipality, Veliko Tarnovo Province, Bulgaria.[1]
The population consist of 874 people. It is located on the main road Svishtov - Veliko Tarnovo. It is 30 km away from Svishtov and 16 km away from Polski Trambesh.

History
One of the legends says that the name of the village came from an old man named Pavel in 17th-18th century. In the beginning of 20th century refugees from Southern Trakia came into the village and settled down in the village. Between 1941-1944 the school was transformed into a prison, there were a lot of victims among the people who were executed. Later in the village was build a workshop for home goods. There are two sculptures in the center.
In 1966 a meteor fell near the village - this is the biggest meteorit which ever have fell in Bulgaria - around 3 kg.
