Information portal helps Bulgarian enterprises with export |
|
An export-oriented information portal created by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency has been helping the business get access to the international market since this autumn. Here is what executive director of the Agency, Mariana Velkova said: “This is an important instrument that would help Bulgarian business find up-to-date information that can be helpful for finding foreign markets and partners. The site would also provide the opportunity for asking questions, to which experts could give answers fast.”
Currently, the web portal contains useful information regarding the legal framework in 23 countries, data for trade turnover, development perspectives, and major economic markers, requirements to products, etc. In the company catalogue of the portal, one could present its company; find distributors, foreign partners, and statistic data. The information portal pays special attention to upcoming business forums in Bulgaria and abroad, providing information about 45 exhibitions in 18 countries and 11 trade missions, which are to take place by the end of the year.
“During the past 2 years export has become the main engine of the economic recovery of the country,” Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism Traicho Traikov said while presenting the portal. “After a 33% growth in 2010, we expected with great interests the results in 2011. The good news is that during the first 7 months of 2011, we have even bigger growth, reaching 37%. That is why it is just the right time for starting this type of information portal,” the minister added.
The growth of Bulgarian export is due to big companies. The small and medium enterprises actually have little contribution. That is why it is important to help small and medium enterprises join the trend.
“The last study conducted in the beginning of the year showed the small and medium enterprises were around 315,000,” Veselin Gornishki, director of the Development and Internationalization of SMEs Directorate of the Agency says. “Unfortunately, the number of export-oriented companies is not big. It must be pointed out, however, that in times of crisis a number of Bulgarian companies have managed to increase their export by 15 to 20%. This portal aims not only at helping export-oriented companies but also those who have the potential to appear on the international market. Analyses show that small and medium enterprises that could export their products are about 70,000,” Mr. Gornishki says.
For the first two weeks since the start of the web portal www.export.government.bg 77 companies have registered in it and it has been visited 3500 times. Most of the companies work in the food industry, machine construction, and the trade sector. The creators of the web site say it is a good beginning.
