How to decorate for Easter |
|
Everyone loves Easter, whether it's for the religious significance, the opportunity to decorate in an over-the-top Spring motif, or the excuse to dress up like a giant pink bunny. Decorate your home for an all around Easter feel and get your family and guests into the spirit of the holiday.
Instructions: Pick the sunniest areas of your house to decorate. Because of the bright colors, Easter decorations look best in well sunned areas. If some rooms aren't sunny throughout, place decorations on tables near sunny windows. Fake the flowers. Unless you're a pro at remembering to water and trim plants, skip fresh baskets and opt for faux arrangements. You can pick up beautiful fake flowers from a number of places - craft stores, home stores and even WalMart. Choose colors that epitomize Spring - white, yellow, light pink or baby blue - and place them in a vase with bright colored glass beads, also available where the flowers are sold. Use plushies conservatively. Stuffed bunnies and chicks are cute and cuddly, but can look overwhelming or even tacky is used too often. Place a small plushie near a flower vase or on a pass-through. Offer colorful candy. Using small, clear dishes, lay out pastel candy on tables and pass-throughs to create a fresh, welcoming holiday environment. Remove darker items. Stash away anything made of dark metals or woods, or heavy candles and oil lamps that could evoke a cold, dark feel to the room. Also remove heavy blankets or slip covers with deep, rich colors.
