Your Ultimate Relaxation Spot in the Old Capital |
|
A new relaxation area has been created under the Nikola Piccolo monument, designed by Tarnovo artist Rumen Dimitrov – Popa. The space features wooden platforms measuring approximately 2 by 3 meters, strategically placed at different levels among the trees. These platforms are perfect for picnics, meditation, and social events.
Situated along the path to the Trapezitsa train station, the platforms are adjacent to the iconic large chairs, also crafted by Dimitrov, which have long been a favorite photo spot and attraction. Despite the proximity to the main street, the area is remarkably quiet, offering a peaceful retreat with picturesque views of Tsarevets and Trapezitsa. Its eastern location provides slightly cooler temperatures during the hot summers, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.
"My idea is to bring this place to life. I have noticed that tourists admire and take pictures when they come across the sight. Along with the festival '48 Hours Varusha South' and with the help of IKEA, I decided to create several platforms to enliven the space," says Rumen Dimitrov – Popa.
An additional goal of this project is to help people feel closer to nature even in the city center. Future plans include cleaning and maintaining the area, as well as improving the path to the Trapezitsa station, enhancing accessibility and enjoyment for both locals and visitors. |
