Borovets expects a successful winter season
Font size:  A  A  A
The resort of Borovets in the Rila Mountain, Western Bulgaria, is ready to offer twice as much fun to skiers and snowboarders this winter. And this will be on offer at rates that won’t change compared to the previous winter season, the ski tracks’ concessionaire in one of this country’s most prestigious skiing hubs has vowed. Investments for the forthcoming season have provided for new opportunities for the fans of skiing and snowboarding cutting the resort’s dependence on weather conditions.
The largest numbers of guests are expected for Christmas and New Year holidays. Most hotels are already fully booked for the Day of University Students in Bulgaria, 8 December. In the meantime, early bookings with discounts as robust as 15% have been running for almost a month and will be on until end-November.

By tradition the Rila Mountain resort will be welcoming skiers from neighbouring Balkan countries, from the United Kingdom and Russia. The season’s official opening has been declared for 13 December, Saturday. On that date Borovets will be hosting the European Cross Country Championships – one among four top events on the calendar of the European Athletic Association. The big sports forum will attract about 800 athletes – women, men and juniors aged up to 23. Representatives of more than forty countries are going to turn up for the event.

Fortunately, a month ahead of the season’s opening, Borovets is complete with twice as many ski tracks with artificial snow facilities. The total of 160 snow cannons and the increased capacity of other snow machines will guarantee quality snow cover for about 2/3 of the resort’s area. Besides, this winter night skiing options will be more. Two new ski tracks will have nighttime lighting, Martinovi Baraki and Rotata, thus doubling the area of nighttime tracks in the region. New attractions will be available for those looking for extreme experience. New facilities have been introduced to the snow park that guarantee high adrenalin to ski and snowboarding adventurers. By the way the resort’s management is ready to open the ski zone as early as end-November provided conditions are adequate for the purpose.
