French Hotel Group to Invest in New Bulgarian Ski Resort |
|
One of the leading French hotel groups, Accor, is planning to invest EUR 550 M to build a new ski resort in Bulgaria's Rila Mountains.
The resort will most likely be between the town of Sapareva Banya and Govedartsi village in southwestern Bulgaria, reports the daily Capital.
Accor is expected to be the main investor in the project, but it will be carried out in partnership with PGI Management, Cluster Montagne, Schneider Electric, and the Bulgarian construction consultancy firm Markan.
So far the project is only in its initial stages, and has not been officially submitted to the relevant state institutions. However, up to EUR 1 M have already been spent in its preparation, adds the publication.
The French-Bulgarian project "Destination Rila" will include a ski center with 155 km of slopes, an aquatic center, golf courses, hotels, and restaurants. It will target full-year tourism, rather than just winter.
It can be completed within 6 years, and could open over 8 thousand new jobs in the region.
