The National Museum Complex in Sofia is to be completed by July 2013

Bulgaria's outgoing government has allocated an extra BGN 4 million to the Ministry of Culture's budget for the completion of the project for the Sofia-based National Museum Complex also known as the Bulgarian Louvre.

The new museum complex is to function as a national cultural center set up to collect, preserve, and exhibit Bulgarian artworks. The project is to be completed in July 2013.

Additional BGN 805 000 will be allocated for the conservation of immovable cultural heritage. These funds will be used for the archaeological sites the Mediaeval fortress “Akra” in Chernomorets, the north turret of the fortified wall in the Provlaka area in Sozopol and the fortified wall on the Urdoviza-Kiten Peninsula
