How to Make Your Front Yard Look Better for Selling
Font size:  A  A  A

When potential buyers drive up to your home for the first time, your yard is one of the first things they see. If your yard and landscaping lack curb appeal, the new home seekers may register a negative first impression, which is not a promising start. If you want to close the deal -- sooner rather than later -- on your current abode, you need to take steps to improve the looks of your front yard.
Keep things tidy on the sidewalks and walkways of your home. Sweep up leaves, twigs, litter and anything else that finds its way onto the sidewalks around your home.
Mow your lawn on a regular basis and take the extra time to edge with a weed eater. It will give your yard a neat, finished look.
Trim back or remove any shrubs or plants that block walkways or windows. Prune the shrubs and hedges so they present a uniform appearance.
Add fresh mulch to your landscaping. Faded, scattered mulch from months prior will not make a good impression.
Water gardens, flowers, shrubs and trees to keep them looking as lush and alive as possible. You want to create an inviting atmosphere -- not a depressing view
Place river rock in bare areas around central air conditioning units and trash cans. Wipe down the outside of trash cans and line them up neatly if you don't choose to camouflage them. If you do want to hide your trash can or central unit, dig some post holes, install posts and attach lattice to make an inexpensive fence.
