| St. Peter & Paul`s Festival in Lyaskovets |

On June 22 and 23, 2019, St. Peter & Paul`s Festival will be held. The National Folk Art Festival has been held since 1993 with the help of municipalities of Veliko Tarnovo, Gorna Oryahovitsa and Lyaskovets.
The Festival is held every odd-numbered year on the eve of St.Peter`s Day in the vicinity of the monastery "St. St. Peter and Paul ", located above the town of Lyaskovets and is highlighted by folksinging and dancing contests, national games and concerts.
For more than two decades, it has taken a significant place in the spiritual life of people in the region. The thousands of participants (over 4000 each time) and the numerous spectators, the direct broadcasts of the Bulgarian National Radio and the presence of the best Bulgarian folklore specialists named him the Little Koprivshtitsa.
The purpose of the Feestival is to confirm the presence of folklore dance, verbal and musical-song wealth in modern life; enabling the numerous collectives to gain public recognition and to prove that today folklore is an unchanging treasure trove of moral values preserved by ancestors; the holding of the Festival on the eve of the temple feast of the monastery aims to establish the role of the Orthodox Church in modern life for the inclusion of the Bulgarian to the original Christian virtues.
An amateur and professional collectives and individual performers present the folk art in all its variety (authentic, processed, dance and verbal folklore) take place in the Festival.
The organization of the meeting and the financing is carried out equally by the three municipalities. Travel and subsistence costs are at the expense of the participants. The organizers do not provide accommodation and hotel reservation. Information about available hotel bases is provided to guests. A professional jury nominates the laureates of the different genres. |
