| Bulgaria`s terrain model in Dryanovo |

The terrain model is the most accurate and one of the oldest – made in 1962.
One of the most wanted show place in Draynovo. The terrain model is located in the school “Maksim Raykovitch” against the clock tower. It was built more than half a century ago in 1962. It recreates highly accurately the Bulgarian terrain. The idea of its creation was Bonka Tihova`s - geography school teacher. It is made of concrete in a scale 1:100 000. Its size is 4.30 x 6.9 meters. In 2013 it was renovated by the young associate “I Can - Dryanovo”.
Here are conducting geography lessons outside of the classrooms – on fresh air and in off-beat way.
On 6th of May 1992 the creator Bonka Tihova told what the reason to create such unique object was and how this happened.
“When the school stairs were stakeout in 1962 I saw that the first ground is on a very suitable place for a terrain model. The idea for its creation was mine. I wanted the students to see the map twice a day- when they arrive and when they leave the school.
First, I went in Troyan to see their model, which turn out to be weak, because it was made of sand and cemented above it. And if you jump accidently on it, it will get damaged.
I was in Tryavna, but their model was inaccurate due to its big shapes. I visited Stara Zagora and their model was very well done and consisted of Bulgaria, Black sea and part of USSR. I understood that it was made of Heraclitus. The job of resizing the model lasted six months and I have worked every day from two to five after school. Students helped me. First they were 15 but only three of them worked well and I choose them – Dabko Dabkov, Siyka Yankova and Donka Markova. I am thankful to the city council and mostly to mr. Georgi Tropchev.
Later, after we resized the model, the difficulty was from what material should be made the forms. I gave up the Heraclitus. When I was in Stara Zagora I saw trappings and figures made of Styrofoam and I thought that it was what I needed. “
