Real Steps Toward Solving the Long-Standing Water Shortage Problem in the Municipality of Polski Trambesh
Thursday, Feb 12, 2026
After years of water shortages and serious difficulties for residents of several settlements in the Municipality of Polski Trambesh, concrete actions are now being taken to achieve a lasting improvement in water supply. At the initiative of the Municipality, hydrogeological surveys have been carried out on water sources in the villages of Maslarevo, Kutsina, Polski Senovets, Strahilovo, Obedinenie, as well as in the town of Polski Trambesh.

The study was conducted by the specialized Plovdiv-based company “VODOKANALGEOTEH” Ltd., with the participation of representatives of the Water and Sewerage utility (ViK). The results have already been summarized in an official explanatory report submitted to the Municipality of Polski Trambesh. This marks an important step forward toward a sustainable, long-term solution to the water supply problems in the region.

First Drillings Expected to Begin in Spring

The Mayor of the Municipality, Georgi Chakarov, announced that on-site activities are expected to begin as early as spring, with priority given to the villages facing the most severe water shortages – Maslarevo and Kutsina. Hydrogeological surveys for each of the two villages are estimated at BGN 23,480. Once all required permits are obtained and funding is approved by the Municipal Council, the drilling works will commence.

Maslarevo – Restoring and Expanding an Existing Water Source

In Maslarevo, six exploratory boreholes are planned to provide a clear picture of the water-bearing layers and to allow for the design of a new, more efficient water abstraction facility. The analyses show that currently only a small portion of the water source’s real potential is being used. When fully utilized, it could supply water for approximately 700 people under normal consumption levels. This gives real hope for stable and reliable water supply for the village.

Kutsina – Modernization of Existing Wells

In the village of Kutsina, efforts will focus on improving the existing five shaft wells. The plan includes deepening them to reach a more reliable water-bearing layer. Data from previous studies in the area confirm the presence of a good underground water resource that can be used more effectively for the benefit of local residents.

Polski Senovets – Focus on Rehabilitation and Modernization

For Polski Senovets, experts indicate that the main issue is not a lack of water, but rather the condition of the water sources and the water supply network. With upcoming repairs, modernization of facilities, and closer coordination with the ViK utility, a significant improvement in water supply is expected for the village.

Obedinenie – Maintenance and Optimization of Drainage Facilities

In Obedinenie, the two existing drainage systems are operational, with one having recently undergone repairs. Cleaning and improved access to the water sources are planned, which will contribute to more reliable system performance and better control of water quantities.

Strahilovo – Sufficient Resources with Responsible Use

The inspection carried out in Strahilovo shows that the village has fully sufficient water resources for drinking and household needs. With reasonable and responsible water use, especially during the summer months, no water supply problems are expected.

Town of Polski Trambesh – Security and Backup Options

The town of Polski Trambesh is supplied with water from the Yovkovtsi Reservoir. However, the conducted surveys confirm the existence of reliable local alternative water sources. These can serve as reserves or, if necessary, support the water supply of neighboring settlements, further increasing the security of the municipality’s water system.
