New Bus Terminal Planned for Veliko Tarnovo: Site Chosen, Technical Specifications Underway

The first concept designs for Veliko Tarnovo’s new municipal bus terminal have now been completed. The facility is set to be built in the Kachitsa area, on the site of the former rectifier station, and will replace the current “West” Bus Station.

The new location offers significantly better connectivity. It sits close to the residential districts of Buzludzha and Kolyu Ficheto, and is only a two-minute walk from the “Kachitsa” stop on Nikola Gabrovski Boulevard, one of the city’s key transport routes.

The conceptual plan has already been included in the city’s medium-term investment program for developing transport infrastructure. A detailed development plan—covering zoning, construction parameters, and all required utilities—has also been approved and is now in force. The project includes planned links to Magistralna Street and Nikola Gabrovski Boulevard, ensuring smoother access for both buses and passengers.

At the moment, the municipality is preparing the technical specification for the project, carrying out the required coordination procedures, and working to secure funding through national and EU programs.
