8th December - Bulgarian Students’ Holiday
Monday, Dec 03, 2018
8th December is the official holiday of Bulgarian students. The beginning of this holiday is closely related to the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski – the first and most reputable school of higher education in Bulgaria.

Thå official start of 8th December as Bulgarian students’ holiday was in 1903 when the 15th anniversary of the University was celebrated.

The celebration of the day was canceled in 1944, and moved to 17 November, when the International Day of Student Solidarity is.

In 1962, 8th December was restored as holiday of the University.

On 28 October 1992, the Council of Rectors pronounced 8th December the official holiday of all students in Bulgaria.
