| Sofia to be closest capital to world’s largest airport |

Sofia might become the closest capital city to the biggest airport in the world, as the first stage of a mega project in Istanbul is expected to be started in October. When the new facility is commissioned, hundreds of destinations worldwide will be available from Sofia, its airspace traffic will increase and new jobs will be open, experts claim. The current Atatürk Airport has already exceeded its capacity by 68 mln. passengers per year. Turkey has aimed at Top 10 in the world in terms of the number of passengers by 2023, when the country will celebrate its centennial as a republic.
