Kotoooshu Supports a Project for Replica of Tsarevets Fortress in Kyoto
Thursday, Jan 29, 2009
The Bulgarian sumo wrestler to relate Tarnovo with Japan's old capital
The world famous Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kotooshu will promote a twinning project of the town of Veliko Tarnovo (northern Bulgaria) and Kyoto. The proposal was made by president Georgi Parvanov during his visit to the old Japanese capital, famous archaeologist Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov told 'The Standart'. The twinning of the two cities is aimed to attract more tourists to Bulgaria, explained the Professor. Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kaloyan Mahlyanov (Kotoosho) promised before 'The Standart' to support the realization of the project. "I love the town of Tarnovo and I like Kyoto as well. That's why I will help the idea to be developed as fast as possible," Kotoosho assured 'The Standart'. Professor Nikolay Ovcharov even suggested to Kaloyan Mahlyanov a replica of the medieval Tsarevets fortress, situated on a hill in Veliko Tarnovo to be placed in Kyoto.
Yesterday Mahlyanov attended a cocktail party in honour of President Georgi Parvanov and his wife Zorka Parvanova in the Bulgarian embassy in Tokyo. "I miss Bulgaria, I haven't been at home for the last year and a half," confessed Kotoosho before the Bulgarian delegation. He was kind to pose for a photo with all members of the delegation.
Prince and princess Akishino were also present at the cocktail party. "I am happy that I will visit Bulgaria soon. Your country has very rich culture, which one should get to know," said prince Akishino in his brief address to the guests.
To the party were invited several Bulgarians who live and work in Japan. They greeted Bulgaria's head of state and confessed that they miss Bulgaria in spite the time passed abroad. "In Japan things change in hours, here we have job opportunities and social status. However motherland is motherland," said the Bulgarians.
