Bulgaria's GDP continued to grow at the record rate of 6,8% in the third quarter of 2008, according to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute.
Bulgaria's total GDP in July-September of 2008 amounted to BGN 18,6 B, or BGN 2 430 per capita. At an average USD-BGN exchange rate of 1,301156 BGN for 1 USD during the third quarter, Bulgaria's GDP was USD 14,32 B, or USD 1 867 per capita.
Calculated in EUR, Bulgaria's GDP in the third quarter was EUR 9,5 B, or EUR 1 242,2 per capita.
The relative share of agriculture in the total added value of Bulgaria's national economy in the third quarter of 2008 grew by 2,6% compared to the same period of 2007 - from 8,9% to 11,5%.
At the same time, the relative share of industry dropped by 2% - from 32% down to 30% respectively, and the relative share of the services sector dropped by 0,6% - from 59,1% to 58,5%.
In the first nine months of 2008, Bulgaria's GDP grew by a total of 7% compared to the same period of 2007. It amounted to BGN 48,037 B (BGN 6 271 per capita), or USD 37,3339 B (USD 4 874 per capita) at an average exchange rate of BGN 1,286697 for USD 1; or EUR 24,561 B (EUR 3 207 per capita).
Bulgaria's imports of goods and services in the third quarter of 2008 was BGN 2,278 B more than its exports. The amount of the country's total foreign trade grew by 5,4%.
