Veliko Tarnovo reported 5% tourists increase in 2015
Thursday, Apr 14, 2016
Veliko Tarnovo. “Tourists registered in the Bulgarian town of Veliko Tarnovo were 5% more in 2015 compared with the previous year,” Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova said speaking at the opening of the XIII International Cultural Tourism Fair in Veliko Tarnovo, Radio FOCUS reported.
Ms Angelkova started her address saying that Veliko Tarnovo was a symbol of the state system, culture and history of Bulgaria, adding that every year, thanks to the efforts of the mayor, Veliko Tarnovo was welcoming more and more tourists.
“More than 180,000 tourists visited the town last year, which is 5% more compared with the previous one, and this positive tendency is registered every year. The growth is a result of the efforts of the local power and the tourism sector.
It is not by chance that since its very establishment the Ministry of Tourism outlined the cultural-historical tourisms as a leading type of tourism for turning Bulgaria into a year-round tourist destination and as an inseparable part of our mass products – winter and summer tourism, together with the balneo and SPA tourism.
These first steps, which we took together, already bear fruit because more and more tourists, who visit Bulgaria, make their choice exactly for its culture and history. This gives us grounds to continue putting an accent on the cultural-historical tourism,” Minister Angelkova remarked.
