Bulgaria's Unemployment Rate Dropped to 10 % in February

Bulgaria's unemployment rate stood at 10 % in February, recording 0.2 % drop compared to the first month of this year and 1 % decrease compared to February 2015. A total of 329 610 people were registered as unemployed in February, which represented a decrease of 4960 people compared to January 2016 and a drop of 31 566 compared to February 2015, the Employment Agency informs. A total of 23 561 people became employed in February, which represented an increase of 4716 people compared to the previous month. The majority of them, 17 317, were employed on the primary labour market, which represented an increase of 3618 people compared to January. The remaining 6244 people became involved in subsidised employment, with 817 hired through employment programmes funded by the government budget and 5395 hired under the Human Resources Development Operational Programme. A total of 15 152 vacancies were announced on the primary labour market, with the vast majority of them (70.6 %) in the private sector. In February, the highest number of vacancies were announced in the following sectors: processing industry; hotel and restaurant services and commerce. These were followed by the civil service, the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors, transport, storage and post services, construction and education. - See more at:
