Bulgaria is a successful energy efficiency model for countries in transition because it has introduced the legislative, institutional and political framework necessary for soaring energy efficiency, says Energy Charter Secretary General Andre Mernier in an analysis following the Seventh National Energy Efficiency Conference, which took place at the end of October in Sofia.
Andre Mernier focused on the contribution of the Energy Efficiency Agency to the progress in the area of energy efficiency. The Agency participates in a Working Group of the Energy Charter Protocol on Energy Efficiency and Related Environmental Aspects /PEEREA/. The Working Group is an institutional body that discusses all energy efficiency issues within the Energy Charter. It discusses and suggests solutions to problems in the Energy Charter policies and exchange good practices.
