Bulgarian art works shine in Qatar
Thursday, Feb 25, 2016
A Bulgarian exhibition has become part of the cultural center of Qatar for the first time in history. The exhibition is called "Symbols of Bulgarian identity" and opened yesterday in Katara, the largest cultural center in Doha. The opening was attended by Dr. Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara, diplomats, representatives of creative associations, journalists and Bulgarians living and working in Qatar, reported Ambassador to Qatar Metin Kazak on Facebook.

"Impressed by the work of small-scale Bulgarian artists, Dr. Al-Sulaiti encourages future joint projects and creative exchanges between Qatar and Bulgarian art schools," said Kazak. The exhibition is a project based on the idea of the Spiritual Mirror Association, chaired by Tanya Kostadinova. The event is organized in cooperation between the Embassy of Bulgaria in Doha and Katara Cultural Village Foundation'', said our diplomat in Qatar.

Kazak shared that the first ever our exhibition in Doha is "part of an increasingly busy calendar of events representing Bulgarian culture and art in the State of Qatar." Vice President of Bulgaria Margarita Popova opened the forum with a congratulatory speech.

As the Standart already reported, the 25 art pieces comprising the exhibition are the work of young talents from three Spiritual Mirror schools in this country – the carpet weaving school in Chiprovtsi, the school for works from maize leaves from Kurtovo Konare and embroidery of costumes.

Each work presents a motif that our ancestors used in carpet weaving, costumes and maize leaf art.
