Ryanair to launch Sofia-Dublin flights in November 2016
Monday, Feb 01, 2016
Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will introduce direct flights between Sofia and Dublin, as well as Sofia to Brussels (Charleroi), starting in November 2016, the company said.

In a filing with the London Stock Exchange, where it is listed, Ryanair announced its flight services schedule for next winter, which includes the new routes to Sofia (three flights a week) and Hamburg, as well as an increased number of flights to Bucharest and London Gatwick. It will also launch new winter services to Athens, Bologna, Murcia, Porto and Seville.

The Sofia-Dublin flights were scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with the first one scheduled to take off on November 1.

The airline’s online booking system also showed Brussels as a new destination for flights from Sofia, with four weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with the first flight scheduled for October 30.

Ryanair began operations in Bulgaria later than its direct competitors, such as WizzAir and easyJet, but the airline stood out in that it used Plovdiv airport and its only destination was London Stansted.

Last year, it announced that first flights from Sofia to London Stansted will begin in May 2016, and later added Pisa in Italy as a second destination.
