Astronomical winter is expected to begin in Bulgaria on December 22 at 6:49 a.m.
“The average temperature this December is expected to be close to and above the average monthly temperature, which is about 0°C in Northern Bulgaria and in the high-altitude fields, between 2°C and 3°C in the Upper Thracian Plain, around 4°C along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and in the southernmost regions, and between -5°C and -1°C in the mountains. The lowest temperatures in December will be between -10°C and -5°C, while the highest temperatures will be between 11°C and 16°C,” said Mariana Popova, meteorologist at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology with the Bulgarian Academy of Science, speaking for FOCUS News Agency.
The amount of precipitation in December 2015 will be close to the average monthly amount, which is 30 to 60 litres per square metre in most Bulgarian regions and 60 to 120 litres per square metre in the mountains and southernmost regions. |
