Pumpkin fest will be held in Bulgaria's Sevlievo

On October 15, Mara Belcheva culture house in Sevlievo will launch the nineth pumpkin festival. Visitors of the town will have the chance to enjoy exhibitions, concerts and plays.
The first edition of the "pumpkin holiday" was held in 2006 and even then the interest in this event was very large. Since then, the celebration is traditional for the town. The cause this colorful fest to grow up right here is the fact that Sevlievo region is known for its production of pumpkins, and even the local population jokingly called the town Tikvenburg (tikva is pumpkin in Bulgarian language).

During the festival there are various competitions for attractive pumpkins, where the local growers show their produce. There are competitions for the most heavy pumpkin, longest pumpkin, smallest pumpkin, pumpkin with the most unusual form, the most beautifully decorated pumpkin, etc.

Another event during the festival is a culinary show "Pumpkin temptations" which provide different pumpkin specialties - pumpkin stuffed with meat, roasted pumpkin "boats" with minced meat, pumpkin desserts, and more. The Chefs from the hotel "Sevlievo Plaza" prepare for the feast Traditional pumpkin desert, which is long more than 200 meters.

In celebration are involved also the smallest citizens of the town. The kids perform poems and songs dedicated to pumpkin, participate in competitive exhibitions with their pumpkins. There is also an exhibition of children`s drawings and a carnival.
