Rural tourism in Bulgaria develops better than popular types of tourism. Bulgarian rural tourism saw an increase of 20 percent in booking demand, Monitor daily reported quoting chairperson of the Association of Bulgarian Villages Tourists spend an average of five days in rural areas. Most of them choose the regions near historical monuments, monasteries and natural landmarks. Mostly Bulgarian tourists visit the rural areas. Only five percent of the foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria spend their vacation in rural areas. The ones who come to the villages are usually part of organized groups. Over 2000 guest houses in Bulgarian villages welcomed tourists. Over the past two years, rural houses have refrained from increasing accommodation prices. Yet, income increased as a result of the high tourist interest. Villages near the seaside are the only ones experienced lack of tourist interest. The positive attitude towards clients is one of rural tourism’s biggest assets. Rural tourism will keep 2015 revenue and might even register better results. Many Bulgarians are expected to travel inside the country during the weekends. Rhodope Mountain and Stara Planina villages have developed good rural tourism conditions.
