The Bulgarian Parliament ratified Thursday the protocols for Albania and Croatia's accession to NATO in the presence of the parliamentary chairs of the two Balkan states.
163 of the Members of the Bulgarian Parliament voted in favor of the ratification, six voted against, and six abstained.
The Chairwoman of the Albanian Parliament Jozefina Topalli thanked the Bulgarian deputies for their support in Bulgarian. The Chairman of the Croatian Parliament Luka Bebic pointed out the ratification was a confirmation of the deep historical relations of friendship, openness, and cooperation between the two states.
In his speech, the Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament Solomon Pasi said that by ratifying the two NATO protocols Bulgaria was actually following the legacy of its national hero Vasil Levski, who declared that after achieving their liberation from the Ottoman Empire, the Bulgarians should continue their mission by liberating other peoples and states. |
