All Hotel Reception Desks in Bulgaria To Be Reachable by Dialing 9

The reception desks of all hotels will be reachable via an internal call by dialing 9, according to Irena Georgieva, Bulgaria’s Deputy Tourism Minister.

Georgieva commented on the new ordinance on the categorization of hotels and accommodation sites in a Thursday interview for the Bulgarian National Radio.

She made clear that the creators of the document had taken into account the experience and best practices of the members of the Hotelstars Union.

Georgieva noted that the discussion had lasted two months.

Bulgaria’s Deputy Tourism Minister said that the categorization of apartment complexes, hostels, and guest apartments was governed by a set of completely new rules.

She explained that the ordinance also included rules on campsites.

Georgieva informed that owners of hotels and accommodation sites had been given a grace period of 6 months to ensure compliance with the new requirements.

She specified that only sites which did not match the new criteria for the respective star category would have to undergo re-categorization.
