What is the best way to get properly informed about the best places where one can eat out in Bulgaria? Now the answer seems quite simple with the release of a special booklet with stamps from the 100 national taverns & pubs. It features Bulgaria’s best restaurants with their addresses enclosed. In this way the lovers of good food will be able to go and try the creations of local cordons bleus and to enjoy great traditional and innovative tastes.
Whoever collects all 100 stamps in the booklet is entitled to vouchers for free meals in the taverns and pubs from the prestigious list. The idea for the booklet has come from a group of die-hard gourmets united in the so-called Society for Extraordinary Tourism. The enthusiasts have been touring the country for years as they have tried to discover great food and great atmosphere in various corners of Bulgaria. The addresses of the taverns and pubs have been published on the website of the Society. In a month from now the booklets themselves will be available for sale in the restaurants from the list.
The selected taverns are distinguished for their pleasant atmosphere.
We have tried to present as worthy tourist destinations places that have not been viewed in this way so far, explains Dimitar Burnotev, founder of the Society for Extraordinary Tourism. And, it is a known fact that such places are a vital part of any other kind of tourism, because wherever we go and whatever we see, we have to sit down for a while at a certain point, and hopefully have a hearty meal.
The owners of the book will have the chance to witness the culinary skills of the local chefs and indulge themselves with very tasty and aromatic meals.
Cuisine is culture. It reveals the habits and ways of the community, its skills to keep and renovate tradition. So, the members of the Society for Extraordinary Tourism have advised tourists to opt for local taverns wherever we go. This will help them have deeper insights into the local spirit and atmosphere. The trend in the recent years has been of offering good food at good prices in a bid to win customers in times of crisis. Competition among taverns, pubs and restaurants, has in turn worked to improve their offer in terms of menu, interiors and service. For this reason the criteria for selecting the 100 national taverns and pubs have to do not only with the quality of food but also with the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the unusual location. Besides, the prices in the taverns should be medium.
The Bulgarian tavern, built at the highest altitude of 1926 meters above sea level is situated at mount Snezanka in the Rhodope Mountains.
There are restaurants that we have included in the booklet for the great views they can offer to customers, explains Dimitar Burnotev. We have included the highest restaurant in Bulgaria, at the Snezhanka Peak Tower in Pamporovo, Southern Bulgaria. Its view is breathtaking. We have also listed many taverns and pubs in Veliko Tarnovo. The old medieval capital remains a leader in this respect: it seems that people there known how to develop tourism. We have also found ways to present foreign cuisines that are common in Bulgarian restaurants.
Some of the pubs are included in the prestigious list of the 100 national taverns & pubs because of the terrific view they provide.
There is already keen interest in the initiative of the 100 national taverns & pubs, the Society of Extraordinary Tourism argues. Bulgarians love to travel but also to enjoy tasty, plentiful and inexpensive food amid a good company and in a nice atmosphere. The same is true of the foreign traveler who can appreciate the excellent food and good service in the Bulgarian restaurants. |
