The ministers in charge of tourism of Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Serbia signed Friday a memorandum to launch a joint project aimed at boosting tourism in the Danube area.
The agreement, signed in historic Serbian town of Sremski Karlovci near Novi Sad, launches the Roman Emperors' Road project, set to link the rich historic heritage of the area with contemporary opportunities for tourism.
"We have joined efforts to make "Danube" a recognizable brand not only for mass tourism, but also for alternative venues such as cultural, historical, eco-, wine, gourmet, bike, and SPA tourism," said Bulgarian Minsiter of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traicho Traikov after the signing.
Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Serbia have already filed with the European Commission a project proposal for the Roman Emperors' Project, including both a marketing and an action plan.
Friday representatives of the respective governments stated that the initiative follows the best established European practices in the field. |
