Bulgarian Exports to Non-EU Countries Up by 56% Q1 2011 Y/Y

In the period January - March 2011 Bulgarian exports to non-EU countries increased by 55.9% year on year.

The data was released by the National Statistics Institute Tuesday.

In the first quarter of 2011, the exports amounted to BGN 3.7 B.

The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, Russia, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and China, forming 49.1% of the total exports to non-EU countries.

The exports to South Africa, India, Croatia and the Ukraine increased significantly. Falls were reported on the exports to Peru, Syria, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Indonesia and Japan.

In March, 2011, exports to third countries increased by 41.0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 1.3 B.

Bulgarian imports from third countries in the first three months of 2011 increased by 40.1% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to BGN 4.1 B (at CIF prices).

The most significant growths were reported in imports from Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Brazil, Singapore and Egypt.

The largest decreases were observed in the imports from Canada and Peru.

In March, 2011, Bulgarian imports from third countries increased by 26.0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to almost BGN 1.5 B.
