About half a million tourists have visited Bulgarian villages during the last years, according to data provided by the Bulgarian Association for Rural and Ecological Tourism (BARET), inews.bg reported.
Momchilovtsi and Dobrinishte have been among the first to develop village tourism for 15-20 years.
There are two types of places for overnight accommodation – the first one is big tourist complexes and the second one is traditional village houses.
It has become common such tourism to be developed in villages which are situated close to big cities, such as Sgorigrad (Vratsa), Arbanasi (Veliko Turnovo), Bogoslov (Kyustendil) etc.
