Bulgaria's Environment Ministry has decided to allocate 97 million leva under the EU's environment operational programme to finance the water supply and sewage projects of three municipalities, namely Chirpan, Dryanovo and Aitos, the ministry said on March 9 2011.
Of the total amount, the southern municipality of Chirpan will get 42 million leva, which will be channelled into the construction of a waste water treatment plant, nine kilometres of sewer pipes and the upgrade of 21 kilometres of its water supply network.
The municipality of Dryanovo, in northern Bulgaria, will be granted 25 million leva to build a waste water treatment plant. The project also envisages the construction of new sewers in five districts, as well as the overhaul of the rest of the sewerage and water supply network.
In turn, the southeastern municipality of Aitos will get 30 million leva, which will be invested in the construction of a waste water treatment plant, three kilometres of sewage collectors and a sewage pumping station.
The projects should be completed by the end of 2014. |
