Eurostat: Bulgaria's June Industrial Orders Up 25% Y/Y

In June 2010 compared with May 2010, the EU industrial new orders index rose by 2,4%, according to estimates released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

In the Eurozone, new orders increased by 2.5% in June 2010 while in May the index increased by 4.1%.

Excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment, for which changes tend to be more volatile, industrial new orders grew by 1.6% in the Eurozone and by 1.8% in the E.

In June 2010, compared with June 2009, industrial new orders increased by 22.6% in the Eurozone and by 22.5% in the EU. Total industry excluding ships, railway & aerospace equipment4 rose by 22.5% and 23.7% respectively.

In June 2010 compared with May 2010, new orders for capital goods rose by 5.3% in the Eurozone and by 5.1% in the EU. Intermediate goods increased by 0.1% and 0.3% respectively. Durable consumer goods fell by 1.1% in the Eurozone and by 0.1% in the EU. Non-durable consumer goods decreased by 1.8% and 0.9% respectively.

Among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in sixteen and fell in four. The highest increases were registered in Denmark (+23.0%), the Netherlands (+8.9%) and Romania (+5.5%) and the largest decreases in Ireland (-4.7%) and the Czech Republic (-2.7%). In Bulgaria the increase was 4.0%

In June 2010 compared with June 2009, new orders for intermediate goods rose by 29.6% in the Eurozone and by 28.7% in the EU. Capital goods increased by 22.7% and 23.8% respectively. Durable consumer goods gained 14.2% in the Eurozone and 17.0% in the EU. Non-durable consumer goods grew by 2.5% in the Eurozone, but fell by 1.1% in the EU.

In Bulgaria, total manufacturing working on orders were up 25% in June on annual basis. Among the other Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in 19 and fell only in Ireland (-5.1%). The highest increases were registered in Denmark (+64.8%), Latvia (+61.2%), Estonia (+49.2%), Romania (+34.6%) and Germany and Finland (both +32.8%)
