Bulgaria reports strong export growth to non-EU countries in H1 2010 |

Bulgaria’s export to non-European Union members soared by 44.1 per cent year-on-year in the first half of 2010, according to statistics from the National Statistical Institute (NSI), released on August 9 2919.
More than half of the Bulgarian exports to non-EU destinations went to China, where figures showed a 220 per cent growth year on year, Turkey (65.5 per cent increase), Serbia (53.6 per cent), Russia (48.9 per cent), Macedonia (21 per cent) and Singapore (26.1 per cent).
Bulgarian exports to non-EU countries grew by 49.1 per cent in June alone, compared to the same period of 2009, and reached 1.1 billion leva, while for the first six months, non-EU exports stood at 5.4 billion leva.
In June 2010, Bulgaria’s imports from outside the EU increased by 26.5 per cent year-on-year, up to 1.3 billion leva
Overall, Bulgaria’s trade balance with non-EU countries in the first half of 2010 was a negative 1.7 billion leva, improving over the first half of 2009, when it was 2.8 billion leva in the red. In June 2010 alone, the trade balance was a negative 229.5 million leva |
