Prisovo Village
The village of Prisovo is located 6 km. southeast of Veliko Tarnovo, at the beginning of the sub-Balkan valley, surrounded by hills.
Prisovo is about 200-280 meters above sea level and has a continental climate with cold winter and hot summer, which is no different from that of all the sub-Balkan areas.
The village has regular bus lines to Veliko Turnovo, Kapinovo monastery, Mindya and Elena. Is compactly settled on both sides of the rever Prisovska and houses are built very closely.
The monastery of “St. Archangel Michael” is situated on the eastern outskirts of the village Prisovo near Debelets. According to a legend, it was built by the brothers Asenovs dynasty in memory and honor of the killed in battle Isaac, Angel of Michael. Probably the monastery was a fortress. During the Second Bulgarian Kingdom churches were teaching monks and scribes of books. Monastery was often visited by Tsar Ivan Alexander and his family.
The monastery was devastated during under Ottoman slavery and in 1409 during the Turnovo riots was set up again as a literary school. In 1426 the monk Luka rewrote a triode. It was built again during the uprisings in Tarnovo by Todor Ballina and Paul Djordjic. After a long time monks from the Rila Monastery built a small building for living and a chapel for prayers.
In 1858 Master Petko Hristov from Debelets began building the present church. Constant raids and robberies forced the inhabitants to build a secret chambers. Many villagers from Debelets and Prisovo, brazier, coppersmiths and carpenters from Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo and Dryanovo helped for the monastery to be finished again.
In the village there is a community center, kindergarten and rest home. Prisovo is located close to the European road E-85.
